Tom Brady considered returning to the NFL, but the league wasn’t interested.
In an interview with CNBC this week, the seven-time Super Bowl champion said he talked about not retiring a second time and was turned away.
“I actually looked into it, and they don’t like the idea very much,” Brady said. “We explored a lot of different things and I’m very happy to retire.”
Brady last played in the 2022 season. He and a partner acquired a 10% stake in the Las Vegas Raiders on October 15, 2024, and a return to play would have required him to sell that stake per league rules.
Brady described his current role with the Raiders as a strategic advisory role, saying his phone is always available for anyone in the organization who needs it.
“I want to see everyone succeed, bring a winning culture to Las Vegas and bring the Raiders back to glory,” Brady said.
Beyond his role as owner, Brady has been in the Fox Sports broadcast booth as a lead NFL analyst for the past two seasons as part of a 10-year, $375 million contract. Last weekend, he also participated in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, throwing a touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs more than 1,000 days after his last NFL game.
Brady said the flag football experience actually increased his satisfaction with retirement.
“I loved playing the flag game,” Brady said. “But on the contrary, this match confirmed to me that I am very happy in my retirement.”
Brady previously said he would never rule out competing in flag football at the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, although he called the possibility unlikely.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
